USP Energy storage
Is it driving or not?
See for yourself whether the locomotive stops or not when the signal is interrupted - e.g. due to dirty track... USP is the more intelligent solution because, unlike a simple capacitor, USP recognizes whether the interruption is intentional (e.g. de-energized stop section) or not (e.g. unintentionally de-energized track section).
You know the annoying problem: the tracks are dirty, a frog is de-energized, the contact is broken, the locomotive is stationary (usually in the most inaccessible place on the layout according to Murphy's law...). This is now a thing of the past. In conjunction with locomotive decoders from the GOLD series, the memory modules provide the necessary energy for uninterrupted communication between the central unit and the decoder. This is made possible by the unique USP technology, with which we are once again setting new standards in model railroad electronics.
Very clever with USP from Digital plus:
In conjunction with the optional energy storage units, the intelligent USP circuit ensures that the locomotive decoders continue to communicate with the control center without interruption, even on dirty track sections or frogs without power.
What is special about USP:
In contrast to simple storage capacitors: Even in the event of contact problems between locomotive and track, where a locomotive would stop without USP, our SILVER+ mini V2 and GOLD+ decoders with USP receive all commands sent by the digital system. The USP memory module then (and only then!) supplies the energy to continue driving or to execute new commands: despite a section of track with contact problems or poor/problematic current consumption of the locomotive, you can stop, change speed, switch functions or command a change of direction, for example.
The energy of the memory module is only requested if the USP circuit detects that the track contact has been interrupted incorrectly, e.g. not if the locomotive moves into a de-energized stop section or is removed from the track.
