Basis of the DCC standard

Digital plus: the standardised digital multi-train control system

Since the beginning of the development of Digital plus by Lenz, we have disclosed our technology. No wonder that anyone with an interest in technology has been able to see for themselves the performance of the model railway control system we have developed. This openness, performance and, above all, the expandability already "developed" into the system have led to Digital plus being used as the basis of the standard for digital model railway control systems after thorough testing by independent experts from the NMRA (National Model Railroad Association; America's association of model railway enthusiasts, the largest association of its kind in the world).

RailCommunityAnother institution for the creation of standards for model railways is the RailCommunity, the "Association of Manufacturers of Digital Model Railway Products". Founded in 2009, this association has set itself the goal of achieving optimum interaction between digital components from different manufacturers. Lenz Elektronik GmbH is a founding member and is of course actively involved in this association.

What is standardised?

The standards of the RailCommunity, NEM and NMRA relate exclusively to theInformation transmission via the track. They ensure that decoders and other components from the manufacturer that are operated on the track output of the digital control system can be used together without any problems.

What advantages does this standardisation have for you?

First and foremost, safety for the function and interchangeability of components. You are not dependent on a single manufacturer, but can supplement your control system with devices from different manufacturers that also conform to the standard. In this way, standardisation ultimately secures the future of this model railway control system.
