Handset controls
Digital plus Hand Controllers and the Fast, Reliable XpressNet™
Hand controllers are the typical input devices of the system because manual operation remains the strongest application area for digital control.
- The last selected locomotive address is immediately displayed again on the screen when reconnected to XpressNet
- No restrictions on locomotive access; all hand controllers on the XpressNet have equal access
- All hand controllers include the option to switch turnouts
- Hand controllers can be disconnected and reconnected to XpressNet during operation if appropriate XpressNet sockets (LA152) are installed
- Simultaneous use of up to 31 devices
Additionally, XpressNet is bi-directional: you can also retrieve information from the control system. For example, when you select a new locomotive, its current speed, direction, and function states are immediately displayed and adopted, allowing seamless operation.
The Hand Controllers LH101 and LH101-R
The LH101 and LH101-R are devices for the XpressNet™, offering you all the advantages of this fast system bus for the Digital plus system. Naturally, both hand controllers can be disconnected and reconnected during operation. The last controlled locomotive remains saved and can be immediately operated again.
The LH101 connects to the control unit via cable, while the LH101-R is wireless, requiring only the LTM101 wireless receiver to connect to the control unit. Apart from this, both controllers function according to the same principles.
Overview of LH101 and LH101-R Features
- Large, backlit LCD display:
Adjustable display brightness and contrast, with customizable backlight duration
Display locomotive address, speed step, functions, or model time. - Fine-tuned, precise rotary knob:
Adjust locomotive speed and direction or make other settings. - Up to 9,999 addresses for digital locomotives:
8 stack slots for quick selection of frequently used locomotive addresses. Locomotive addresses can also be entered using the numeric keypad. Quickly switch to the previously controlled locomotive with one button. - Two driving modes selectable:
- **Normal Mode** (factory setting): Reduce speed to zero using the rotary knob.
- **Shunting Mode**: Reduce speed to level 1 using the rotary knob. Stop the locomotive by pressing the rotary knob. This mode is advantageous for shunting: you can slow the locomotive to the minimum speed without looking at the controller and stop precisely where needed. - Model time:
The LZV200 includes a model clock with adjustable speed. This model time can be displayed on the hand controller’s screen, and settings are made in the system menu. - Control locomotive functions:
Up to 69 functions (F0 to F68) can be addressed in compatible locomotive decoders (requires LZV200 version 4.0 or later). - Configure locomotive decoder functions:
Set each function in a locomotive decoder as either a continuous or momentary function. - Select speed step modes:
Adjust the number of speed steps for the displayed locomotive address. - Double traction (DTR):
Two locomotives can be controlled as a single unit. - Multiple traction (MTR):
Several locomotives can be controlled simultaneously with one common address. - Switch turnouts and signals:
Control up to 2,048 turnouts, signals, or other magnetic articles. With feedback-capable switching receivers, the actual position of turnouts is displayed. - Routes:
Store up to 16 routes with 16 steps each in the LH101. - Club modes:
The LH101/LH101-R supports two "club modes," where certain functions are restricted, allowing less experienced operators to participate safely. - Display feedback information:
View the state of inputs on feedback modules via the hand controller. - Configure decoder properties:
Change settings like address or acceleration delay. Three programming methods are available:
- **Programming on the Main (PoM):** Adjust decoder properties while the locomotive is anywhere on the layout.
- **Programming on the programming track:** Configure decoder settings on a separate track.
- **Register mode:** Configure older decoders that do not support modern CV programming. - Read CVs with PoM:
With the LZV200 and LH101/LH101-R, it is possible to read CVs from decoders supporting this feature during operation. - System settings:
Adjust control unit settings, such as software version or model time, via the hand controller. - Service variables in the LZV200:
Access and modify service settings like interface baud rate through a dedicated menu.
LH101-R Wireless Controller: Like LH101, But Without Cables
- The new LH101-R wireless hand controller is functionally and operationally identical to the LH101.
- Connects to the control unit via XpressNet using the LTM101 wireless receiver.
- Up to 4 LH101-R controllers can be used with one LTM101 receiver.
- The wireless technology is developed in collaboration with Massoth.
- Powered by 2 AA batteries.
- If the batteries run out: no problem! You can still use the LH101-R with a cable.
How to Update the Software on Your LH101/LH101-R:
- Order the update cable (if not included with your LH101).
- Download and install the latest version of the CV Editor here.
- Download and install the latest data package here.
- Download and read the LH101(-R) update instructions here.
- Follow the instructions to update your LH101.
