XpressNet
XpressNet™ by Digital plus for the best model railway connections.
The XpressNet is a network, similar to those used with computers. The XpressNet connects various input devices to the central unit of the DCC control system. These input devices are usually controllers, but the USB/Ethernet interface can also be used to connect a computer to the control system.
Technically, the XpressNet™ is an RS485 interface, an industrial standard. Data is transmitted at a speed of 62.5 kBaud. The central unit assigns time slots to the connected devices (up to a maximum of 31), during which a connected device can send a request or a command to the central unit. Thanks to the protocol used, devices can be plugged in and unplugged during operation, which is advantageous for larger layouts: for instance, a handheld controller can be unplugged in one part of the layout and reconnected elsewhere without losing its settings. The connection is made using 5-pin DIN connectors or Western connectors, such as with the XpressNet™ adapter LA152.
