ETA 150
ETA 150 - the role model
The accumulator railcars of the ETA 150 series (from 1968 series 515) were very common on the German Federal Railway. The railcars offered a very comfortable ride and, despite the typical howling of the tatzlager motors, good track holding due to their higher dead weight compared to the Uerdingen rail bus and smoother running due to the use of fully-fledged bogies, a low noise load. They travelled on main and branch lines. The railcars were therefore very popular with passengers and had nicknames such as "Akkublitz" or "Heulboje". They were equipped with normal traction and buffing equipment and could pull additional wagons such as mail wagons, express freight wagons or general cargo freight wagons if required.
