BR 24 locomotive with tender

BR 24 - Prototype

Built from 1928 to 1940, the class 24 was largely identical to the class 64 tank locomotive. The boiler, cylinders, engine, wheel sets and many other parts were interchangeable. The two-cylinder steam engine with Heusinger control drove the second coupling wheelset. On the level, the machines could haul a 350-tonne train at 90 km/h. Originally, all locomotives had Wagner wind deflectors, but they were replaced with Witte wind deflectors on many locomotives at the DB.

BR 24 - the model

The model is just like the prototype; many parts are identical. That's why, after the BR64, we are also reissuing the popular BR 24. And for the first time in two interesting variants that we have not yet offered. The DB version with the small Witte wind deflectors and the 24 061 single-unit trailer, which the Göttingen test centre fitted with a 2â2âT26 tender, which could store almost twice as much water and also permitted reverse journeys at 80 km/h thanks to its driver's cab rear wall.
This locomotive model also impresses with its rich equipment and - like all Lenz locomotives - with its detailed representation true to the original. Equipment of the BR 24 in addition to the standard equipment:

  • Decoder with USP and energy storage as well as numerous functions and sound already integrated
  • Noiseless motor control enables smooth, jerk-free running and particularly good low-speed characteristics
  • The speed of the motor is determined by an angular magnetic sensor mounted on the motor shaft
  • The lamps are equipped with maintenance-free LEDs
  • In digital mode, the front and rear headlights can be switched on and off separately, the brightness can be set separately from other lights
  • The driver's cab lighting can be switched separately from the top light, and the brightness can be adjusted separately from other lighting
  • The shunting gear reduces the speed of the locomotive by approx. half, so shunting movements can be carried out with particular precision; shunting light means that both the front and rear (white) lamps are switched on regardless of the direction of travel

The new editions

The models are equipped with the Lenz e.motion drive with the angle magnetic sensor mounted on the motor axle for motor control. In addition, the new models are equipped with a smoke generator with wheel-synchronised smoke ejection.
