BR 64 - the role model

After the founding of the Deutsche Reichsbahn Gesellschaft (DRG) in 1925, the unfavourable variety of locomotives of the past state railways was to be gradually replaced by so-called standardised types. One of the first in this typification plan was the class 64.
Between 1928 and 1940, almost all German locomotive factories built a total of 520 of these locomotives, also known as "Bubikopf". Thanks to its excellent running characteristics when travelling forwards and backwards at a maximum speed of 90 km/h, the 1' C 1' locomotive was often used in front of passenger trains, but also in front of reversible trains and mixed trains. The locomotive was based in numerous depots and travelled throughout Germany. The last locomotives were not taken out of service until 1974.

BR 64 - the model

This locomotive model also impresses with its rich equipment and - like all Lenz locomotives - with its detailed representation true to the original. Equipment of the class 64 in addition to the standard equipment:

Decoder with USP and energy storage as well as numerous functions and sound already integrated
Noiseless motor control enables smooth, jerk-free running and particularly good low-speed characteristics
The speed of the motor is determined by an angular magnetic sensor mounted on the motor shaft
The lamps are equipped with maintenance-free LEDs
In digital mode, the front and rear headlights can be switched on and off separately, the brightness can be set separately from other lights
The driver's cab lighting can be switched separately from the top light, and the brightness can be adjusted separately from other lighting
The shunting gear reduces the speed of the locomotive by approx. half, so shunting movements can be carried out with particular precision; shunting light means that both the front and rear (white) lamps are switched on regardless of the direction of travel

The new editions

The models are equipped with the Lenz e.motion drive with the angle magnetic sensor mounted on the motor axle for motor control. In addition, the new models are equipped with a smoke generator with wheel-synchronised smoke ejection.
