Shunting locomotive BR 80 - about the prototype
The beefy locomotives of the class 80 were tender shunting locomotives of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. These locomotives were procured between 1927 and 1929 as part of the standardised steam locomotive programme. The locomotives were in service with the DB until 1965 and with the DR until 1981. They were used as works locomotives in the coal and steel industry until 1977. Seven of these locomotives still exist today.
